A master's job is
never done, it lives on through the ages.
The officers for 1913 were installed into their respective stations on February 7, 1913. The total cost for the installation and the banquet that followed were $35.00. The brethren of Clovis Lodge were asked by a special communication to each pay approximately $1.00 for their share of the total costs, leading us to believe that at this time their were about 35 members of Clovis Lodge. In March of that year they attended a reception for the Grand Master of Mason's held at Las Palmas Masonic Lodge. In June, Senior Deacon James G. Ferguson, had to tender his resignation and cites that his regular attendance is hampered by his work.
At about this same time the Clovis Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star requested permission to use the Lodge room for their monthly meetings and were granted permission on the basis that only a "member of Clovis Lodge handle the key to the locker and assist in gathering the paraphernalia used by the Eastern Star."
In November of this year the first discussions of owning our own building were held and a committee of four was appointed and was requested to report at future meetings. Also at this same time the annual audit was completed and the numbers were not in favor of Clovis Lodge. It seems that the Secretary had a big burden in keeping the Lodge's finances afloat for the year, and that measures were going to have to be taken to relieve that pressure from the Secretary. |
